Position Overview

Lee Canyon Ski Patrol is seeking motivated, safety-minded individuals to join our team as Ski Patrol Level 1. This position is an opportunity to work as part of a professional mountain-safety team while providing exceptional service and emergency response to our guests.

Level 1 Patrollers are responsible for helping maintain a safe mountain environment, responding to guest incidents and injuries, assisting with mountain operations, and providing a high level of professionalism and customer service.

This is a physically demanding outdoor position requiring strong skiing or snowboarding ability, sound judgment, effective communication, and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations and changing weather conditions.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Responding to and assisting with guest injuries and medical emergencies.
  • Providing emergency medical care within the scope of training and certification.
  • Safely transporting injured guests using patrol toboggans and other appropriate equipment.
  • Assisting with mountain opening and closing procedures.
  • Conducting trail, terrain, and hazard inspections.
  • Identifying and communicating changing mountain and snow conditions.
  • Assisting with snow safety and hazard mitigation operations.
  • Participating in lost-person searches and other mountain emergencies.
  • Assisting with lift evacuation operations.
  • Operating and maintaining patrol equipment as trained.
  • Maintaining effective radio communication with Ski Patrol and other mountain departments.
  • Completing accurate incident reports and other required documentation.
  • Assisting guests with questions, directions, mountain information, and safety concerns.
  • Educating guests regarding responsible and safe mountain use.
  • Working closely with Lift Operations, Ski & Ride School, Mountain Operations, and other resort departments.
  • Assisting qualified personnel with avalanche mitigation operations, with opportunities to develop additional skills and advance within the avalanche program.
  • Performing other duties necessary to support safe and efficient mountain operations.

Level 1 Patrol provides an opportunity to develop the skills and experience necessary to advance within Ski Patrol.

Patrollers will receive opportunities to build their mountain-safety knowledge and operational skills, including opportunities to assist with avalanche mitigation operations and pursue additional responsibilities as their experience, training, and qualifications develop.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

Ski Patrol is a physically demanding position. Employees must be capable of working for extended periods outdoors in winter conditions and navigating snow-covered terrain.

The position may require:

  • Skiing or snowboarding for extended periods.
  • Hiking or traveling through deep or variable snow.
  • Carrying and transporting medical and patrol equipment (Up to 50lbs. or more).
  • Assisting with the movement and transportation of injured guests (Up to 50lbs. or more).
  • Performing physically demanding emergency-response tasks.
  • Working in cold, windy, snowy, icy, and rapidly changing weather conditions.
  • Working at elevation and on challenging mountain terrain.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must possess one of the following certifications before applying:
    • Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC)
    • NREMT certification (EMT-B or higher)
    • Wilderness First Responder (WFR)
  • Strong skiing or snowboarding ability.
  • Ability to safely and confidently navigate a variety of terrain and snow conditions.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies.
  • Dependable, professional, and committed to mountain safety.
  • Willingness and ability to work outdoors in changing and potentially severe weather conditions.
