Job summary

Mt. Rose Development Company is seeking a Patroller II to support patrol management by applying safety procedures for guests and employees at the Mt. Rose ski area. You will bring EMT-B expertise, lead training, respond to incidents and help enforce the Skier Responsibility Code.

Responsibilities include first aid, incident reporting, rescue operations and mentoring newer patrollers, with emphasis on safety and customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong skiing and/ or snowboarding abilities.
  • EMT-B - Emergency Medical Technician - Basic, Certified by Nevada EMS or National Registry.
  • Current CPR card.
  • ATF clearance as an Employee Possessor.
  • Working towards Association of Professional Patrollers Certification.
  • Excellent English communication skills - both verbal and written.
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
  • A compassionate demeanor to aid injured or distressed guests.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, reduce and/ or eliminate hazards on ski runs with regard to signing, markings and flagging.
  • Provide first aid and transportation for injured guests and employees.
  • Complete incident report forms on injured guests and employees and perform incident investigations as needed.
  • Provide training and mentoring to new Patroller I employees.
  • Provide courtesy transportation to non-injured guests.
  • Provide search and rescue, avalanche rescue and lift evacuation services as needed.
  • Provide avalanche control and snow safety evaluations as required.
  • Promote and enforce safe on mountain behavior.
  • Clocking in and out to ensure accurate work hours

POSITION SUMMARY

The Patroller II adds expertise, training and leadership skills while performing their duties in assisting patrol management in the implementation of safety procedures for Mt. Rose as it applies to guests visiting the ski area and the employees of Mt. Rose.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong skiing and/ or snowboarding abilities, capable of traveling safely and efficiently through all snow conditions.
  • EMT-B - Emergency Medical Technician - Basic, Certified by Nevada EMS or National Registry.
  • Current CPR card
  • ATF clearance as an Employee Possessor
  • Working towards Association of Professional Patrollers Certification
  • Excellent English communication skills - both verbal and written.
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
  • A compassionate demeanor in which to aid and assist injured or distressed guests.

CONTACTS

INTERNAL: Managers and assistant managers of all Mt. Rose departments. Some staff level interaction if employee accidents occur.

EXTERNAL: Resort customers, NDF, NLTFPD, REMSA, Washoe County Sheriff & EMS Offices

MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and cooperate with other departments as necessary in the completion of the above essential duties.
  • Provide information and answer questions about the resort to resort guests.
  • Assist Patrol Supervisors in implementing safety and training programs.
  • Any other duties that may contribute to the cleanliness, orderliness and overall efficiency of the entire operation and all of the tasks contained therein.
