Job summary

Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe in Reno, NV is seeking a Mountain Safety & Emergency Services Patroller to identify hazards, provide first aid, and assist guests on challenging terrain.

Qualifications

• Strong skiing and/ or snowboarding abilities; able to travel safely through all snow conditions.
• EMT-B – Emergency Medical Technician – Basic, certified by Nevada EMS or National Registry.
• Current CPR card.
• ATF clearance as an Employee Possessor.
• Excellent English communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify, reduce and eliminate hazards on ski runs.
• Provide first aid and transportation for injured guests/employees.
• Complete incident reports and investigations as needed.
• Train and mentor Patrol I and II staff.
• Coordinate with Patrol Management on safety objectives.
• Lead during search and avalanche rescue and lift evacuation as needed.
• Coordinate avalanche control and snow safety evaluations as required.
• Uphold the Skier Responsibility Code on mountain.
• Collaborate with other departments to complete duties.

• Strong skiing and/ or snowboarding abilities, capable of traveling safely and efficiently through all snow conditions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Identify, reduce and/ or eliminate hazards on ski runs with regard to signing, markings and flagging.
• Provide first aid and transportation for injured guests and employees.
• Complete incident report forms on injured guests and employees and perform incident investigations as needed.
• Provide training, mentoring and delegation of duties to Patroller I and II employees.
• Provide courtesy transportation to non-injured guests.
• Provide leadership during search and rescue, avalanche rescue and lift evacuation services as needed.
• Provide avalanche control and snow safety evaluations as required.
• Promote and enforce safe “on mountain” behavior as it applies to the Skier Responsibility Code.
• Coordinate with Patrol Management to implement mountain safety objectives
• Coordinate with Patrol Management to train and mentor Patrol I, II
• Coordinate and cooperate with other departments as necessary in the completion of the above essential duties.

MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• May be asked to sit on resort committees.
• Provide information and answer questions about the resort to resort guests.
• Provide information and answer questions about the resort employees and department staff.
• Any other duties that may contribute to the cleanliness, orderliness and overall efficiency of the entire operation and all of the tasks contained therein.
• Clocking in and out to ensure accurate work hours
