Job summary

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources seeks two Site Technician II at Lincoln Trail State Park. You will build forms and pour/finish concrete for sidewalks, foundations and pads, and perform routine repairs to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting tasks across facilities.

Under supervision, you’ll inspect areas for safety, guide visitors, supervise Conservation Workers and volunteers, and help maintain water wells and treatment equipment while supporting park operations year-round.

Qualifications

• Requires education and experience equivalent to high school graduation.
• Requires two years maintenance or farming experience preferably related to building trades and/or operation of heavy equipment.
• Two years of experience following written and oral instructions.
• One year of experience informing visitors of site facilities, programs, rules and regulations.
• One year of outdoor recreation experience.
• One year of groundskeeping experience.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, performs semi-skilled work and operates tools during site development and maintenance.
• Performs routine site maintenance work.
• Informs visitors of site facilities and rules and regulations.
• Provides functional supervision to Conservation Workers, volunteers, and other site staff.
• Inspects site and public use areas for safety hazards and communicates findings.
• Performs other duties as required within the scope of the listed responsibilities.
