Job summary

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is seeking a Site Technician II at Channahon State Park. You will maintain buildings, grounds, vehicles and equipment, operate a 35-foot aerial lift, haul material, and supervise seasonal staff while ensuring safety and compliance during operations.

Experience in maintenance or farming plus a valid Class A CDL with air brakes is required; lifting >60 lbs and working outdoors year-round are expected. This position is full-time and in-office at the park.

Qualifications

• Requires high school graduation and two years maintenance or farming experience.
• Valid Class A CDL Driver's License with Air Brakes.
• Ability to obtain pesticide operator's license within 6 months of employment.
• Ability to withstand exposure to the elements year-round.
• Ability to lift, carry, and transport loads exceeding sixty pounds.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains buildings, fixtures, equipment and operates heavy equipment.
• Operates 35 foot aerial lift for removal and pruning of trees and hauling material.
• Maintains ground areas and trails along canal.
• Provides leadership and direction to seasonal employees and volunteers.
• Sells camping and firewood permits to the public.
• Assists in implementing safety and security programs at the site.
• Performs other duties as required within the scope of duties.
