Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Safety Specialist to develop, support, and audit Site Specific Safety Plans and safety programs on its projects in the Power Market. You will report to the Project Safety Manager and help ensure compliance with contract safety expectations, corporate procedures, and OSHA/MSHA requirements.

The role requires collaboration with craft and operations, strong documentation, and the ability to relocate for opportunities.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30, 500 and 510 certifications are required or preferred.
• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or related field is preferred.
• Must be legally authorized to work without sponsorship.
• Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal/OSHA requirements.
• Certification as Safety Professional or EMT is preferred.
• Working knowledge of computers with MS Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development, review, updating, and communication of the Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) to all parties.
• Collaborate daily with craft in the field to promote buy-in and ownership of the safety program.
• Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure policy and plan adherence.
• Plan, prioritize, and problem-solve with operations based on leading indicators.
• Provide safety training on policies, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, and client requirements.
• Maintain project files in OSHA/MSHA compliance and incident records.
• Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Conduct daily hazard inspections and support corrective actions with operations.
