Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an Entry Level Safety Specialist to support the Power Market Safety team. You will help implement and audit the Site Specific Safety Plan in the field, ensuring compliance with regulations and client expectations.

You will work with operations and craft to foster safety ownership, participate in incident investigations, and contribute to continuous improvement with safety training and documentation.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30/500/510 certifications.
• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred.
• Must be legally authorized to work without requiring sponsorship for employment.
• Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements.
• Certification as a Safety Professional or EMT preferred.
• Working knowledge of computers; MS Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail; ability to recognize discrepancies.
• Willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Ability to access all points of a construction site.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development, review, and communication of the Site Specific Safety Plan to stakeholders including subcontractors.
• Collaborate daily with craft to ensure ownership of safety programs.
• Exercise Stop Work to enforce policies and procedures.
• Plan and problem-solve with operations using leading indicators.
• Provide safety training on policies, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, and client requirements.
• Maintain project safety files compliant with OSHA/MSHA regulations.
