Job summary

ERRG is seeking a Site Safety and Health Officer to lead the project safety program on hazardous waste remediation sites in Washington state. The SSHO will administer the safety plan, AHAs, and exposure controls, ensuring compliance with OSHA and EM 385-1-1 requirements.

The role requires on-site leadership, hazard control, and daily safety oversight. Qualified candidates will have Level 1 SSHO credentials, 5+ years of SOH experience, and OSHA HAZWOPER training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in safety or related field.
• Minimum 5 years SOH experience on remediation/construction.
• Level 1 SSHO qualification with EM 385-1-1 experience.
• OSHA 30/40/8-hour trainings completed.
• Ability to prepare AHAs and conduct inspections.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer site safety plans and APP; ensure compliance.
• Review AHAs before work and verify control measures.
• Maintain SSHO designation and training records.
• Coordinate with Project Manager, QC, and client safety reps.
• Conduct daily safety inspections; assign corrective actions and track closures.
• Apply PPE controls and ensure proper selection and use of equipment.
• Coordinate hazard communication and exposure monitoring as required.
• Prepare safety daily logs and participate in incident investigations.
• Travel to project sites as needed.
