Job summary

DeviantArt, now part of Wix, is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to design and scale its high-throughput AWS infrastructure. You will automate deployment pipelines, optimize databases, and enforce security while maintaining maximum uptime across services.

You will lead 24/7 on-call with two other engineers, work with Vespa search and sharded MySQL, and push for GitOps-driven operations. Strong Linux, AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Python, and Bash skills are essential.

Qualifications

• :10+ years of experience in DevOps/Platform/SRE roles at scale.
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills across frontend to backend production systems.
• Strong Linux command line expertise.
• Deep knowledge of AWS services and infrastructure as code with Terraform.
• Container orchestration with Kubernetes.
• Experience building Docker images and Helm charts.
• Proficiency in Python and Bash for automation.
• Experience with sharded MySQL databases.
• Security/compliance experience on large-scale web infra and DDOS mitigation.
• Proactive issue identification to prevent downtime.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain high-scale AWS infrastructure for DeviantArt's 1.5B+ monthly page views.
• Maximize uptime with incident response and rapid degradation handling.
• Scale and troubleshoot MySQL sharded databases and search infra (Vespa).
• Build zero-downtime CI/CD pipelines (Terraform, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, CodeBuild).
• Automate provisioning and configuration management with solid testing and docs.
• Enforce security protocols and defend against DDoS attacks; patch management.
• Optimize cloud costs without compromising performance.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation with other engineers.
