Run the site from groundbreaking to handover on a major US greenfield plant
Own the site of a major greenfield industrial build in the US
A global leader in building materials is building a new plant in the United States. Civil works, equipment installation and a long list of contractors all share one site and one start-up date. They don't need a visiting manager. They need a site leader with local anchorage, someone who knows the local GCs, subcontractors, permitting process and code requirements, and can keep a complex build safe, controlled and on schedule.
Why this role is different
- You're there early. You join as the buildings emerge, or before the main civil works if timing allows, so you understand why the site is set up the way it is and help shape it.
- Local knowledge is the point. You bring US codes, permitting, inspection and AHJ experience, and a network of regional contractors and suppliers.
- You reduce risk upfront. You support early negotiations with local contractors and vendors, so problems are addressed in the contract rather than during execution.
- You see it through. You stay from civil-led works, through the overlap with equipment installation, to a clean handover to the operations team.
- It's backed. This is part of a multi-year, multi-country expansion funded from a strong balance sheet, with more sites in the pipeline.
What you'll do
- Lead day-to-day site management and supervision across civil, structural and equipment installation phases
- Coordinate the general contractor, subcontractors and specialist equipment vendors against the project plan and standards
- Control the interfaces between civil and equipment contractors as the site moves from construction to installation
- Make sure OSHA, local code, permit and inspection requirements are met on site, and drive a strong safety culture
- Give project leadership a clear, factual view of site progress, risks and issues
- Run a structured handover to operations, covering everything from winter site maintenance to waste management
What you bring
- A track record as a site or construction manager on large greenfield industrial projects (building materials, glass, steel, paper, cement, chemicals or similar heavy industry)
- Experience managing multiple contractors across the civil-to-installation transition, ideally as an owner's representative or on the owner's side
- Strong knowledge of US construction practice, codes and permitting, and of the regional contractor market
- Strong HSE record (OSHA 30 or equivalent) and a calm, structured approach under schedule pressure
- Excellent communication with a global, multi-site project team
- Availability to be on site full-time through the project
What's in it for you
- A flagship project to put your name on
- Real ownership of the site, with a direct line to project leadership
- Potential for follow-on work on future sites
