Commissioning Lead | Greenfield Production Line, USA | Be in before the first machine arrives
Own the start-up of one of America's most ambitious industrial builds
A global leader in building materials is constructing a new plant in France. Dozens of machines, hundreds of interfaces, one start-up date that matters. They don't need another coordinator. They need a commissioning leader who can turn scattered testing into hard data and confident go/no-go decisions.
Why this role is different
- You build the system, not inherit it. You join about 12 months before start-up and set up the commissioning framework from day one.
- You hold the full picture. One person sees every test, every failure and every open item across the whole line.
- You're in the room early. You challenge suppliers at FAT, shape what gets tested before equipment ships, and own the handover into site.
- Your voice carries. You report operational and schedule risk directly to project leadership, and they act on it.
- It's backed. This is part of a multi-year, multi-country expansion funded from a strong balance sheet, with more sites in the pipeline.
What you'll do
- Design and run the commissioning strategy from individual machine tests through to integrated line performance
- Give leadership a live, factual view of readiness, replacing "I think we're ready" with "here's the evidence"
- Lead the on-site commissioning team and specialist contractors through a full-time, high-intensity start-up
- Run a clean handover to operations, so the plant starts well and stays running
What you bring
- A track record commissioning large continuous production lines in heavy industry (building materials, glass, steel, paper, cement, ceramics or similar)
- Experience leading integrated mechanical, electrical and automation commissioning, ideally on a greenfield site
- Hands-on command of FAT, SAT and mechanical completion
- A structured, data-first mindset, with the confidence to hold the line when the schedule pushes back
- Local contractor and vendor relationships are a real advantage.
- Availability to be on site full-time through start-up
What's in it for you
- A flagship project to put your name on
- Real autonomy and a seat at the table
