Job summary

Major Tool & Machine, located in Indianapolis, IN, seeks an IT Manager, System Administration to lead site IT, ensure security and reliability, and partner with the Director of IT on standardization and initiatives.

You will mentor staff, oversee Windows Server/AD, virtualization, backup, and network, drive CMMC 2.0 readiness, and align with GCC High/M365 projects while maintaining documentation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in system administration (Windows Server, AD, Azure, Intune, Defender) and virtualization.
• 5+ years leading IT teams, formally or informally.
• Strong networking fundamentals (switching, routing, firewalls, VPN).
• Experience supporting manufacturing/industrial site is a plus.
• Strong troubleshooting and ability to work independently on site.
• Clear written and verbal communication, reporting to division leadership.
• Eligible to work with export controlled/defense data at a U.S. site.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop an IT team supporting servers, network, storage, and endpoints at the Major Tool site.
• Own site level system administration for Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization, and backup/recovery.
• Manage network infrastructure including switches, firewalls, wireless, and site connectivity to the corporate WAN.
• Maintain endpoint management, patching, and antivirus/EDR coverage across Major Tool systems.
• Support CMMC 2.0 Level 2 compliance requirements at the site, including access controls, logging, and asset inventory.
• Coordinate with corporate initiatives, including M365 GCC High operations, data governance, and security tooling deployments.
• Manage local vendor relationships, hardware lifecycle, and IT capital planning.
• Own incident response and root cause analysis for site outages and security events.
