Job summary

Motion Recruitment's client, a growing international investment and business group, is building its U.S. operations in Boston and seeks an experienced IT Manager to lead this office's technology.

You will support end users, infrastructure, vendors, security, and office technology, aligning with global IT standards while shaping the IT function as the office expands. This is a hands-on generalist role with autonomy, budgeting, and vendor management.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in IT administration, systems administration, or IT management
• Strong experience supporting Windows environments
• Experience with IT budgets and vendor management
• Experience with employee onboarding and offboarding processes
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration and identity management
• Ability to work independently as the primary IT resource for an office

Job description

This client is a growing international investment and business group that operates across multiple industries and maintains a global presence. The organization is building out its U.S. operations office and is seeking an experienced IT Manager to serve as the primary IT leader for this office. This is a highly visible, full-time position supporting end users, infrastructure, vendors, security initiatives, and office technology while aligning with global IT standards and policies. The ideal candidate will bring a broad technical background across help desk, systems administration, networking, AV technologies, vendor management, and IT operations.

This is anopportunity for an IT generalist who enjoys building and improving IT environments from the ground up. Rather than inheriting a large team and established processes, you'll be the trusted technology advisor to executive leadership, helping shape the future of IT within the U.S. business. You'll have the autonomy to assess the current environment, identify gaps, implement solutions, manage budgets, oversee vendors, support a growing user population, and lead the technology aspects of an upcoming office relocation. Over time, this individual may have the opportunity to build and lead a small IT team as the organization continues to expand.

Required Skills & Experience

• 6+ years of experience in IT administration, systems administration, or IT management roles
• Strong experience supporting Windows-based environments
• Hands‑on experience with networking fundamentals, firewalls, wireless networks, and endpoint management
• Experience managing IT vendors, service providers, and technology contracts
• Experience with employee onboarding and offboarding processes
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration and identity management
• Experience managing IT budgets and technology purchasing decisions
• Ability to work independently as the primary IT resource for an office
• Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, audiovisual, and infrastructure technologies
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience developing or enforcing IT policies, standards, and security best practices

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience supporting global IT organizations and working within international IT governance frameworks
• Experience leading office buildouts, relocations, or expansion projects
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and SaaS administration
• Experience with AV systems for conference rooms and executive meeting spaces
• Exposure to cybersecurity initiatives, firewall implementations, and endpoint security tools
• Experience with AI platform administration, including Claude or similar enterprise AI tools
• Previous experience building IT functions or departments in a growing organization
• Prior leadership or team management experience
