Job summary

Digital Realty is seeking a Site Engineer II for their Northern VA data center operations. You will support mission critical electrical, mechanical, and safety systems, participate in change management and SOP development, and help ensure uptime and SLA compliance across multiple buildings in Sterling and Ashburn.

The role requires hands-on experience with UPS, HVAC, fire/life safety, BMS and CMMS, with the ability to work varied shifts including overnight and evening.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in mission critical facilities operating/engineering or equivalent assets (UPS, HVAC, generators, fire/life safety).
• Hands-on electrical or mechanical skill and competence in a non-expertise area.
• Strong knowledge of UPS systems and architectures.
• Strong knowledge of cooling systems and architectures.
• Understanding of infrastructure redundancy configurations and risks (N+1, 2N, ATS/STS, failover).
• Experience with CMMS, DCIM, and power metering systems.

Responsibilities

• Understand facility layout and operation of MEP systems and illustrate site one-lines accurately.
• Assist in creation/update of SOPs, EOPs and SOOs.
• Contribute to change management tickets and incident reporting.
• Perform rounds/inspections and detect anomalies.
• Support accreditation initiatives (SSA E16, SOC2, ISO 27001).
• Coordinate maintenance, repairs, and site installations as required.
• Provide 24x7 support for data center operations to achieve uptime and SLA compliance.
