Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a System Engineer to maintain health and uptime of automated warehouse systems in a live production environment. The role is on-site, hands-on, and not focused on commissioning or programming, requiring strong diagnostic, electrical, and mechanical skills.

You will troubleshoot PLCs (Allen-Bradley), VFDs, and motors, perform preventive maintenance, and document activities in Maximo. Collaboration with maintenance teams is essential to stabilize system performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent hands-on engineering experience.
• At least 1 year of hands-on PLC diagnostics and troubleshooting (prefer Allen-Bradley).
• Minimum 1 year with VFDs; diagnose speed/torque issues.
• Experience with AC/DC motors and automated conveyor/AS/RS equipment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the health of automated systems: conveyors, lifts, robotics, motors.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and automation issues to restore uptime.
• Diagnose PLC (Allen-Bradley) failures and drive-related problems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment.
• Use alarms, logs, and dashboards to identify faults and recurring issues.
• Document maintenance in CMMS (Maximo) and internal tools.
• Act as senior escalation point during disruptions or downtime.
• Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and technical teams on-site.
• Provide on-the-job guidance to technicians and operators.
• Step in for critical on-site technical functions to maintain continuity.
• Ensure OSHA, LOTO, electrical safety, and Symbotic safety standards.
