Job summary

Gilbane Building Company is seeking a Superintendent for an on-site role in Buffalo, NY. You will independently supervise trade partners on projects valued up to $30M and play a key part on the project team.

You will guide field teams, manage safety and quality, and coordinate with the project stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery. A strong leadership mindset and commitment to Caring and People First culture are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
• 4–8 years of superintendent experience on $15–$30M commercial/industrial projects.
• OSHA 30-hour certification.
• STS-C Certification.
• First Aid, CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed training.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Directs day-to-day coordination of trade partners and sub-contractors to ensure high-quality work and schedule.
• Develops and communicates the field work plan for changes.
• Maintains understanding of contract documents to anticipate problems.
• Participates in constructability reviews and assesses change impacts.
• Ensures subcontractors obtain necessary permits for construction.
• Acts as primary safety representative on site.
• Establishes credibility with owners, trades, and partners.
• Leads contractor meetings regularly.
• Maintains daily reports and project documentation.
• Creates and updates the project schedule with contingencies.
• Communicates schedule status to project team and trades.
• Plans and manages jobsite logistics.
• Oversees quality plan and inspections; implements changes.
• Coordinates with Site Services/Next 150 to order materials.
• Coaches and mentors Field Engineers on project needs.
• Writes scopes of work and assists in buyout.
• Assists in Time and Materials tracking.
• Leads daily huddle and pre-task reviews.
• Supports a positive and inclusive work environment.
• May assist with tasks for junior positions.
