Job summary

Langan is seeking an Intern – Site/Civil Engineer to join its collaborative team in Chicago, IL. The role supports site feasibility studies, field work, technical report prep, and design plan development, offering hands-on experience with leadership guidance on land development projects.

You will expand technical knowledge and professional growth through direct collaboration with industry leaders on diverse projects, with potential internship growth.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a four-year or advanced degree in Civil Engineering; GPA 3.0+ preferred.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D and MS Office Suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, design and permitting of civil engineering, land development and infrastructure projects.
• Assist with preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates and design plans using AutoCAD or Civil 3D and related software.
• Analyze soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and geologic data from reports, maps, drawings, and tests for project feasibility and design.
• Support zoning, ordinance and permit assessments, sidewalk estimations, and feasibility analyses based on data.
• Provide field inspection services as needed.
• Apply engineering knowledge and advanced mathematics to project tasks.
• Collaborate with team members on project tasks and assignments.
• Perform other duties as requested.
