Job summary

The Kleingers Group is seeking a Site Civil Engineer (Mid-Level) in the Columbus area to provide technical leadership on civil, environmental, construction, and industrial projects. You’ll guide study and design phases, mentor interns, and interact with clients while developing intermediate design tool proficiency.

Ideal candidates have a Civil Engineering degree, 2+ years of experience, and solid CAD/design tool skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• Minimum 2 consecutive years of Civil Engineering experience.
• Public-speaking ability is desirable.
• Execute basic design projects from start to finish as primary designer.
• Develop baseline knowledge of state and local regulations.

Responsibilities

• Consult with stakeholders and management regarding engineering requirements for construction designs and modifications.
• Use design software and drawing tools to render and communicate plans and designs.
• Set design specifications by calculating appropriate engineering requirements.
• Plan projects based on analysis of drawings, blueprints, surveys, and maps.
• Draft and present reports on detention and engineering due diligence topics.
• Perform material, equipment, and labor calculations to estimate costs.
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure progress.
• Coordinate with surveyors to establish reference points and elevations.

The Staff Civil Engineer will provide technical leadership to project teams who will be working onplanning, evaluation, design andimplementationof civilengineering projects. The successful candidate will leadthe study-phase and/or design-phase of projects related to the civil, environmental,construction and industrial fields. The Staff Civil Engineer would regularly have interaction withemployees outside of their department, regularly have interaction withclients, occasionally interact with the public (agencies, government entities, etc.),andrarely participate insellingto clients.Thestaff civilengineer isexpectedto manage assigned co-ops/interns, whilebeinganexampleofprofessional presence, representingthe Company andthe department ina positive light,andhave intermediate levelof software knowledge ofatleast two(2)engineering software packages.Thisrole is notrequiredto haveaProfessional Engineeringlicense.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Consultswithandprovidesguidanceto projectstakeholders andmanagerialstaffregardingengineering requirements for construction of various designs, and modifications.
• Usesdesignsoftwareanddrawingtoolstoaccuratelyrenderandcommunicate designs;plansand designs other necessary improvement related to type of project assigned.
• Setsdesign specificationsbycomputingappropriate engineering requirements (i.e.-water flow rates, traffic demand, earth work balance, etc.).
• Plansprojectsbasedontheanalysisofrelevantmaterialssuchasdrawings,blueprints,aerial photography, survey reports, maps, and other geologic and topographical data.
• Drafts andpresents reports ontopics relatedto projects suchasdetention reportsandengineering due diligence reports.
• Perform calculations for materials, equipment, andlabor needed to determine probable construction cost.
• Collaborateswitharchitects,contractors,andotherengineerstoensureprojectsprogressproperly.
• Collaborates with surveyors (or directs and participates in surveying) to establish installations or reference points, grades, elevations, and other factors that will affect construction.
• Monitorsprojectprogressandensuresdesignspecificationsandstandardsaremet.
• AbletoteachandexplaintoothersthemethodologiesusedbyTheCompany.
• Intermediatelevelofunderstandingofdesigntoolsandcivilengineeringpractices.
• Fundamentaldesignofprojectsforsites.Inclusiveofdetentiondesign.
• Participateinappropriate meetings,associationmemberships,andeventsto establish,develop,and grow networking contacts.
• Performsotherrelateddutiesasassigned.
