Job summary

Gateway Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineer to coordinate complex projects with clients, contractors, and staff. The role involves performing calculations, developing construction drawings, and preparing specifications for public and private projects.

Ideal candidates will have an EIT, 8+ years of civil experience, and familiarity with City of Pittsburgh design and permitting processes. Strong CADD drafting skills and site visits are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of engineering experience in civil projects.
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) required; PE preferred; LEED a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate projects with clients, contractors, outside consultants, and firm staff.
• Perform engineering calculations and design to transform concepts into construction drawings and specifications.
• Assist in preparation and QC of plans, specs, supporting documents, and permit applications.
• Provide project-specific technical information to the Project Manager for incorporation into specs.
• Perform plan drafting using CADD software.
• Visit project sites to review conditions as appropriate.
• Maintain compliance with state, federal, and local rules and codes.
• Maintain positive relationships with internal and external clients.
• Represent the company at meetings, presentations, and public hearings/reviews.

This position is full-time in person. E.I.T. or P.E. license required. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience. Civil Engineer Responsibilities

• The Civil Engineer position will coordinate projects with clients, contractors, outside consultants, and firm staff.
• Perform engineering calculations and design using specialized technical skills, experience, and engineering judgement to transform concept designs into construction drawings and technical specifications for public and private projects.
• Assist in the preparation and quality control of plans, specifications, supporting documents, and permit applications for projects.
• Provide project specific technical information to the Project Manager for incorporation into the project specifications.
• Perform plan drafting using CADD software.
• Visit project sites to review conditions as appropriate.
• Maintain and comply with state, federal, and local rules and codes.
• Maintain positive relationships with both internal and external clients.
• Serve as a representative of the Company at meetings, presentations, and public hearings/reviews relative to assigned projects.

• Land Development
• Water resources / stormwater management / design
• Site layout/ zoning analysis
• Grading / earthwork
• Utility Design and Coordination
• City of Pittsburgh Design and permitting experience
• SSA (In Civil 3D)
• Chapter 102 and 105
• Technical writing
• Sustainable design
