Job summary

Gateway Engineers, Inc. is seeking a qualified Structural Engineer to join our in-person team in Pittsburgh. This full-time role focuses on guiding projects from concept through construction drawings, coordinating with clients and contractors, and ensuring code compliance.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in structural engineering, including renovations, steel and concrete design, masonry restoration, and proficiency in Revit. A PE license is preferred or EIT aiming for PE.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Architectural Engineering with structural focus.
• 8+ years of experience in structural engineering.
• Professional Engineer license preferred or EIT planning to attain PE.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate projects with clients, contractors, and staff.
• Perform calculations and create construction drawings and specs.
• Assist in plan prep, QC, and permit applications.
• Provide technical info to Project Manager for specs.
• Perform plan drafting using CAD software.
• Visit project sites as needed.
• Maintain compliance with codes and regulations.
• Represent the company at meetings and hearings.

Structural Engineer Responsibilities

• Coordinate projects with clients, contractors, outside consultants, and firm staff.
• Perform engineering calculations and design using specialized technical skills, experience, and engineering judgement to transform concept designs into construction drawings and technical specifications for public and private projects.
• Assist in the preparation and quality control of plans, specifications, supporting documents, and permit applications for projects.
• Provide project specific technical information to the Project Manager for incorporation into the project specifications.
• Perform plan drafting using CADD software.
• Visit project sites to review conditions as appropriate.
• Maintain and comply with state, federal, and local rules and codes.
• Maintain positive relationships with both internal and external clients.
• Serve as a representative of the Company at meetings, presentations, and public hearings/reviews relative to assigned projects.

The ideal Structural Engineer candidate will have the following experience

This Opportunity Requires

Education

• Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural and/or Civil Engineering with a Structural Focus and/or related field

Experience

• 8+ years of experience in related field

License

• Professional Engineering License preferred or Engineer-in-Training with desire to attain P.E. license
