Dorchester County in South Carolina is seeking a part-time Waste Center Attendant to monitor and screen waste and recyclables delivered by residents at county convenience centers, assist the public with proper containers, and maintain site appearance and safety.
Under close supervision, you will open/close centers, direct traffic, ensure containers are emptied, and maintain records. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability may be required during emergencies.
The purpose of this job is to monitor and screen all waste and recyclable materials delivered by residents to County convenience centers; to assist the public in placing materials in proper containers; to monitor container volume; and to maintain site appearance and safety.
This position works under close supervision according to set procedures.
All County employees are considered public servants for the citizens of Dorchester County. When requested before, during, or after an emergency event, County employees are expected to work and serve the public in coping with the emergency.
This is a part‑time position; typical work 52 hours per pay period Monday through Fridays, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but employees must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Employees must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays during emergencies or as requested. This is a safety sensitive position and employees holding this position have the responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others. This position is subject to random drug testing.
