Simulation Technician

The Simulation Technician is an essential role in supporting the general mission, vision and strategic goals of the of the Georgetown University School of Nursing. This position is necessary to support the director, manager and senior simulation technician of the nursing simulation center, as well as faculty and students at the School of Nursing. Using standards of best practice, this individual should collaborate with the team in order to deliver high quality simulation learning activities that are delivered across both undergraduate and graduate programming. Employee will be trained in operating the human patient simulators and performing other technical functions within the simulation center and may be required to attend training sessions that support this responsibility. The individual in this role must be flexible in their work hours, supporting students and faculty during weekends and evenings as needed. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Facilitate the day-to-day tasks which must be performed to ensure safe and efficient operation of the clinical simulation center.
  • Operate and maintain the human patient simulators.
  • Set-up and break down simulated clinical rooms.
  • Manage supply levels.
  • Maintain access to the center during schedule simulations that occur on weekdays, weekends, and sometimes evening hours.


Work Interactions

The individual in this position will work with a variety of people and roles. They will be a support person for the simulation center and will interact with both internal and external users. Strong independent communication skills are required. This role will positively impact the university by providing a higher level and quality of service to the users of the clinical simulation center. Interaction will be required with undergraduate and graduate nursing students and faculty, members of the community, work-study students assigned to the simulation center, and other GUSON staff.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of medical technologies and/or healthcare delivery
  • A minimum of one year experience related to medical care, simulation, and/or technology
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills


Preferred Experience/Certifications
  • Bachelor degree in a related field
  • Simulation experience
  • Simulation operations certification

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$41,926.00 - $65,090.00

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
