Job summary

Brigham Young University (BYU) School of Medicine seeks a Simulation Program Manager to lead the daily operations of the simulation laboratories, coordinate setup and teardown, and ensure readiness of spaces and equipment. The role partners with faculty to design and evaluate simulation-based education and to schedule OSCEs and courses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, engineering, technology, film/theater production or related field.
• Ability to obtain CHSOS or CHSE certification within 3 years of hire.
• Master’s degree preferred; 5+ years of progressive responsibility in healthcare simulation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the simulation labs.
• Coordinate setup and teardown of simulation spaces and equipment.
• Maintain readiness of all simulation spaces, spaces and equipment.
• Collaborate with faculty across curriculum to design and evaluate simulation-based education.

• Assist with budgeting, safety compliance, data collection and accreditation.

Simulation Program Manager, Simulation - School of Medicine

The Program Manager, Simulation is responsible for the day-to-day operation, coordination, and management of the simulation laboratories within the BYU School of Medicine, under the direction of the Director of Simulation. This role ensures high-quality, safe, and educationally sound simulation experiences supporting undergraduate and graduate medical education. This position plays an important part in supporting the school’s mission to "provide a spiritually grounded and scientifically rigorous education for physicians who will minister to God’s children throughout the world as healers, teachers, researchers, leaders, and disciples of Jesus Christ." This position is important to the success of the BYU School of Medicine, a newly established organization within the university. As the school continues to launch and grow, a successful candidate must demonstrate adaptability and a willingness to take on evolving responsibilities and assignments to support its effective implementation and ongoing operations.

What you'll be doing in this position

Simulation Center Operations and Management

• Oversee daily operations of the simulation labs.
• Coordinate setup and teardown.
• Maintain readiness of all simulation spaces and equipment.

Equipment Oversight and Technical Support

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and coordinate repair of simulation equipment including HFS, task trainers, AV systems, and VR platforms.

Curriculum and Faculty Collaboration

• Collaborate with faculty across all phases of the curriculum to plan, design, create, deliver, and evaluate simulation-based education.

Scheduling and Program Coordination

• Manage simulation schedules including OSCEs, skills labs, and courses; prevent conflicts and optimize utilization.

Staff Supervision and Training

• Supervise simulation staff and students.
• Coordinate training.
• Conduct performance reviews.
• Orient simulation staff and instructors.

Budgeting, Safety, and Compliance

• Assist with budget oversight.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation, safety, data collection and analysis and institutional policies.

• Other duties as assigned.

What qualifies you for this role

Education/Experience Minimum Required: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, engineering, technology, film or theater production, or related field and at least 2 years of healthcare simulation experience OR 6 years of equivalent simulation or technical experience.

Ability to obtain CHSOS or CHSE certification within three years of hire.

Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field. 5 or more years of progressive responsibility in healthcare simulation.
