Job summary

BNSF Railway is seeking a Signal Engineering Management Trainee in Kansas City. You will dive into signal systems design, installation, maintenance, and advanced train control across a vast freight network.

This 12-month program offers hands-on field training, leadership exposure, and conversion opportunities within the railroad’s technical footprint. The role requires flexibility for 12-month relocation as needed, travel up to 75%, and a strong Engineering background.

Qualifications

Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Capable of working in a 24/7 environment including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Willing to relocate anywhere on the BNSF Railway operating system and travel up to 75%.
Pursuing a Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Engineering or a related field.

Responsibilities

Inspect, maintain, repair, and construct signal infrastructure along our right of way, including wayside signals and grade crossings.
Plan and schedule required maintenance and verify the quality of work completed.
Expand and update BNSF infrastructure and oversee projects that interact with BNSF property.
Responsible for the safety of their teams.
Manage the finances and schedules of their projects and communicate with stakeholders.
Opportunity to shadow positions such as Signal Supervisor and Signal Manager for hands-on experience.
