Job summary

Gfoat in Pflugerville, TX, seeks a capable Streets Signage Technician to produce traffic signs, install and repair sign posts, and help maintain transportation infrastructure.

You will follow safety rules, operate power tools including chainsaw, manage work orders, assist with barricades during emergencies, and participate in monthly safety meetings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience with sign making or related field.
• Substitution: 2 years related full-time experience for 1 year of higher education, or 1 year of higher education for 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Makes street signs, stop signs, yield signs, and other transportation signage; install and repair sign posts.
• Create, maintain and complete all work orders on the work order system.
• Operates chainsaw and other power tools to remove trees and branches obstructing traffic signs.
• Help set up barricades for emergencies, traffic control and flooding.
• Follow all safety rules and procedures; report accidents, injuries, theft, or damaged equipment to supervisor.
• Report unsafe practices or conditions to supervisor.
• Participate in monthly safety meetings.
• May be temporarily assigned to other departments to provide related support.

Job Summary

Takes explicit direction from departmental supervision and carries out duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, and routines: may exercise moderate independent judgment and initiative. Prepares signage related to transportation and transportation projects. Provides manual labour for repair and maintenance of City streets.

Essential Job Functions and Other Important Duties:

• Makes street signs, stop signs, yield signs, and other necessary transportation signage as required. Install and repair sign post.
• Create, maintain and complete all work orders on the work order system.
• Operates chainsaw and other power tools to remove trees and branches from obstructing view of traffic signs.
• Helps set up barricades for emergencies, traffic control and flooding.
• Performs all job duties according to all approved safety rules and procedures.
• Promptly reports all accidents, injuries, theft, loss, and broken/damaged equipment/property to the immediate supervisor.
• Reports all unsafe practices or conditions to the immediate supervisor.
• Actively participates in monthly safety meetings.
• May be assigned temporarily to other departments to provide related support.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Formal Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Relatable Work Experience: 1 year of experience with sign making and/or related field.
