Job summary

Optum is seeking a Staff Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Operating Room team in Seattle. Under supervision, you will ensure patient safety, anticipate surgeons’ needs, and maintain aseptic conditions while supervising nonprofessionals as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Active Registered Nurse license through the Washington State Department of Health.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare providers (AHA).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
• 6+ months of perioperative nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Assesses the health status of the patient to develop an individualized plan of care.
• Develops a nursing care plan with goals and interventions.
• Implements the nursing care plan for optimal patient care.
• Instructs patient and family to assist in achieving health goals.
• Documents nursing activities for continuity of care and accountability.
• Identifies patient to ensure correct procedure and operative site.
• Plans and assists with patient transfer to ensure safety.
• Positions patient for access and safety during surgery.
• Maintains antiseptic and sterile environments to prevent infection.
• Maintains sterile field through aseptic technique and monitoring.
• Maintains a safe environment for patient and staff during surgery.
• Coordinates intraoperative support services and equipment.
• Communicates with patient/family and recovery room staff.
• Evaluates nursing care effectiveness and product safety.
