Job summary

600 Advocate Health, Inc. is seeking a certified Medical Interpreter to provide interpretation for patients, families and healthcare teams.

The role requires bilingual proficiency, medical terminology knowledge and ethical practice within diverse clinical settings. Responsibilities include interpreting in life support and emergency scenarios, maintaining confidential communication, and documenting activities in patient records.

Qualifications

• Education Required: Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in.
• Experience Required: No experience required.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Must be bilingual in target language and English with proven linguistic abilities in medical interpreting. Ethics and cultural understanding per NCIHC guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provides interpretation for patients, families and their health care team in clinical settings.
• Interprets in cases of life support withdrawal, fetal demise and major emergency cases.
• Encourages communication between patient and health care team to build rapport and ensure understanding.
• Documents work activity certification on logs and charting interpretation in patient records.
• May assist with referrals, transportation, insurance processes, and informed consents.
