Qualifications

• Two years of post-secondary education or equivalent with coursework in sign language and interpreting for the deaf.
• Experience as a sign interpreter, one-on-one and before audiences.
• Fluent ASL and English; able to interpret high‑level educational content.
• Oregon Licensure: Provisional, Supervisory, or Generalist Sign Language Interpreter.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-class interpretation and transliteration for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in classes, labs, and events.
• Use sign language to transmit information from lectures, films or small groups.
• Stay updated on new signs and develop technical signs as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA; support accessibility for all students.
