Job summary

Orange Tree Staffing is seeking an ASL Interpreter to provide services to students in Tacoma for the 26/27 School Year, in-person and full-time. The candidate must hold ASL Interpreter Certification with a minimum EIPA score of 4.0 or NIC certification.

Role involves interpreting for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events, collaborating with teachers and related-service providers to ensure access to the general education curriculum.

Qualifications

• ASL interpreter certification is required.
• Minimum EIPA score of 4.0 or NIC certification.
• In-person availability is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, clear, and age-appropriate ASL interpretation for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students during classroom instruction, activities, meetings, and school events.
• Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, staff, administrators, peers, and families while maintaining confidentiality and professional interpreting standards.
• Support students access to the general education curriculum, including interpreting academic terminology, classroom discussions, assessments, and STEM-focused instruction.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related-service providers to ensure accommodations and communication access in line with each students educational plan.
• Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment by encouraging student independence and self-advocacy while serving as a communication facilitator rather than an instructional substitute.
