Job summary

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is seeking a Sign Fabricator to fabricate and install signage across WMATA Rail and Bus systems. You will work from drawings and specifications to produce signs using vinyl plotters, engraving machines and large format printers.

The role requires knowledge of sign fabrication standards, experience with layout and installation, and the ability to work from ladders or scaffolding while adhering to safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years’ experience performing Sign Fabricator duties.
• A valid motor vehicle operator's permit is required.
• RWP Certification, level 2, within one year of hire and maintained.
• Ability to fabricate and install signage per standards.

Responsibilities

• Creates/fabricates signage from scratch using approved specs.
• Fabricates, repairs, refurbishes and refinishes signs per design procedures.
• Uses vinyl plotters, large format printers and engraving equipment.
• Installs signs across Rail, Bus systems from ladders and scaffolding.
• Operates hand tools and portable power tools for installation tasks.
• Measures and layouts signs to ensure correct dimensions and alignment.
• Prepares requisitions for parts and materials and maintains records.
• Attends safety trainings and follows WMATA safety practices.
