Job summary

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is seeking a skilled Sign Fabricator to fabricate and install a variety of signage across the Metro system. The role involves using vinyl plotters, large format printers and engraving equipment to produce signs per WMATA standards.

The position requires working from ladders and scaffolding, with attention to safety, quality and documentation of installation work.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of current industry standards and best practices in industrial sign fabrication/installation.
• Knowledge of design, layout and fabrication of complex signage.
• Knowledge of vector-based graphics/rip software.
• Knowledge of operating vinyl plotters and large format digital printers.
• Knowledge of ADA signage standards including fabrication and installation specifications.

Responsibilities

• Create and fabricate signage from scratch using approved specifications.
• Fabricate, repair, refurbish and refinish signs following approved procedures.
• Install signs across Metro rail and bus systems from ladders and scaffolding.
• Operate hand tools, power tools and equipment required for installation tasks.
