Job summary

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is seeking a skilled Sign Fabricator to produce signs from scratch and install them across WMATA’s rail and bus systems. The role requires operating CNC routers, vinyl plotters, and large format printers, with accuracy in layout, measurement and design using vector-based software.

The candidate will fabricate, repair and refurbish signs, maintain documentation, and participate in safety training to uphold WMATA standards across multiple facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years’ experience as a Sign Fabricator or related field.
• Valid motor vehicle operator's permit required.
• RWP Certification, level 2, within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Creates/Fabricates signage from scratch using approved sign specifications, shop drawings or descriptions.
• Fabricates, repairs, refurbishes and refinish es defective signs following approved procedures.
• Installs signage across Metro Rail and Bus systems using ladders, scaffolding and manlifts.
• Operates vinyl plotters, large format printers and engraving/routing machines.
• Measures, layouts and verifies dimensions to ensure alignment and quality per standards.
• Completes required documentation and requisitions for parts and materials per WMATA standards.
• Attends safety training and follows industry best practices.
