Job summary

Slate is seeking an experienced SI&OP Data Scientist in the United States (Sacramento area) to lead forecasting models and inventory optimization. You will drive predictive analytics, monitor forecast accuracy, and translate complex results into actionable insights for a broad audience.

The role requires 6+ years in data science within SI&OP or related areas, strong communication, and the ability to work in a startup-like environment. Eligible for equity and incentives.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in Data Science within SI&OP, Demand Planning, or Business Management/Strategy.
• Experience with AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics to create forecasting models.
• Strong analytical skills with data interpretation and forecasting understanding.
• Proficiency in Excel and/or other data analysis tools such as SmartSheets, Tableau, or Alteryx.

Responsibilities

• Own predictive time-series and ML models for forecasting product sales across Slate’s units.
• Monitor forecast accuracy and bias; refine models for improved quality.
• Partner with SI&OP Analysts for root-cause variance analyses.
• Translate outputs into clear operational insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• Design models to optimize inventory, safety stock, and capacity planning.
• Build and maintain forecasts and dashboards enabling scenario planning.
• Develop KPI reporting and data pipelines to track model performance.
