Job summary

Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc. seeks a Shredder Operations Supervisor to lead production and quality control on multiple shifts. The role oversees operators, supports maintenance coordination, and ensures safety and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 5–10 years in manufacturing with 2–5 years in a leadership role, and a proven track record in continuous improvement and cost-conscious operations. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5–10 years of manufacturing/industrial experience.
• 2–5 years of managerial experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Experience leading a work crew; unionized environment a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive.
• Spanish-speaking helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Ensures safe work practices and compliance with safety policies and regulations.
• Provides leadership to department employees on multiple shifts.
• Reviews repair and maintenance needs with Shredder Manager and Maintenance Supervisor; plans parts and downtime.
• Maintains a documented Quality Control program and works with Commercial and Sales.
• Prepares and monitors daily production reports to improve throughput and profitability.
