Job summary

Columbia University Facilities & Operations is seeking a Short Order Cook for the evening shift at Columbia Dining Services. You will interact with customers as you prepare meals on grill and cook-to-order stations.

The role involves taking orders, cooking with short prep time, restocking, maintaining safety standards, and supporting pantry duties when needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or its equivalent is required.
• Previous pantry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Takes orders from customers and cooks food requiring short preparation time, according to customer requirements
• Completes order from grill and/or steam table and serves customer
• Orders, receives, and stores necessary food and supplies, and maintains related records
• Complies with the rules of Dining Services in regard to production and serving
• Uses and maintains tools and equipment in a proper manner
• Cleans, prepares, and keeps in order the area and equipment used in the job and other areas as assigned by the Manager
• Observes and practices safety standards
• Performs the duties of a Pantry Worker when necessary
• Performs related duties as required or assigned within job classification

Position Summary

Columbia Dining Services is a dynamic, progressive department in an exciting, fun environment with a customer-focused culture. We have an immediate opening for a Short Order Cook. Short Order Cooks interact with customers as they create customized meals on our grill and cook-to-order stations.

The Short Order Cook prepares and cooks to order a variety of foods that require only a short preparation time. Takes orders from customers and serves patrons.

• Performs the duties of a Pantry Worker when necessary
• Performs related duties as required or assigned within job classification

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or its equivalent
• Previous experience as a Pantry Worker is a plus
