Position Overview

This position is responsible for repairing construction machines, component assemblies, and parts in the shop. Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, ordering parts, writing technical reports, warranty reporting, maintaining company assets, and effective communication with team members.

Responsibilities

1. Develop a repair plan and sequence for equipment and components.
2. Determine necessary parts, materials, tooling, etc.
3. Perform repairs properly and safely, including quality assurance testing of repair components, systems, and machines.
4. Complete all reports legibly and promptly for parts ordering, tooling usage, service reports, and work orders.
5. Communicate repair progress with supervisors as required.
6. Manage parts and materials through the company's parts ordering system.
7. Handle special tools and maintain their proper care, including major shop equipment.
8. Use company vehicle and fuel cards responsibly.
9. Maintain a safe and clean work area.
10. Keep tools and tool carriers in safe, productive, and updated condition.
11. Follow all company policies and safety guidelines.
12. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the manager.

Education, Experience, and Skills

High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required. An Associate Degree in Diesel or Equipment Technology or four (4) years of apprenticeship experience is preferred. Technician classification depends on experience, knowledge, and competence.

Physical Demands

Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for handling or feeling objects. Reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, lift, crouch, or crawl as needed. Must be able to talk and hear. Reasonable accommodations can be provided for individuals with disabilities.

Work Environment

Frequent exposure to wet/humid conditions and moving mechanical parts; occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, weather extremes, and vibration. Noise level ranges from moderate to loud.
