Job Summary:

This position is responsible for repairing construction machines, component assemblies, and parts both in the shop and in the field. Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, ordering parts, writing technical reports, warranty reporting, maintaining company assets, and effective communication with team members.

Responsibilities:
  1. Repair equipment and components, including:
    1. Developing a repair plan and sequence
    2. Determining necessary parts, materials, tooling, etc.
    3. Performing repairs safely and properly, with quality assurance testing of components, systems, and machines
  2. Complete reports for parts ordering, tooling usage, daily service, and work orders in a timely and legible manner
  3. Communicate repair progress to supervisor as required
  4. Manage parts and materials through the company’s parts ordering system
  5. Handle special tools via the company’s Tool Room, maintaining proper care and use of tools and major shop equipment
  6. Use company vehicles, service trucks, and fuel cards responsibly
  7. Maintain a clean and safe work area and service vehicle
  8. Keep tools and tool carriers in safe, updated condition
  9. Follow all company policies and safety guidelines
  10. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the manager
Education, Experience, Skills:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required. An Associate Degree in Diesel or Equipment Technology or four years of apprenticeship experience is preferred. Technician classification depends on experience, knowledge, and competence.

Physical Demands:

Requires sitting, standing, walking, and manual dexterity, including reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, and crawling. Talking and hearing are also necessary. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.

Work Environment:

Frequent exposure to wet/humid conditions and moving mechanical parts; occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, weather extremes, and vibration. Noise levels are moderate to loud.
