Job summary

Aggreko, LLC in Smyrna, TN is seeking a Shop Technician 2 - Power to support maintenance and repair of power generation and HVAC equipment at the local service center.

The role requires 3+ years of hands-on experience with diesel generators, natural gas generators, HVAC systems, and related equipment, plus the ability to read schematics and work from plans. Overtime and occasional weekend work are possible as part of a full-time schedule.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of experience working on diesel power/natural gas generators and/or commercial HVAC equipment, chillers, performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
• Experience with calculating nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements, along with reading and knowing schematics.

Responsibilities

• Based out of the Smyrna, TN service center with overtime and weekend opportunities.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of power generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, chillers, HVAC equipment and/or oil free air compressors.

Bring your energy to Aggreko as a Shop Technician 2 - Power based in Smyrna, TN. Power without pause. Heating, cooling and oil-free air without end. We keep our customers’ worlds on. What you’ll do:

• You’ll be based out of our Smyrna, TN. service center. You’ll have an opportunity to work overtime and weekends.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of power generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, Chillers, HVAC equipment and/or oil free air compressors.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures at the shop.

You are:

• High School diploma/GED.
• 3+ years of experience working on diesel power/natural gas generators and/or commercial HVAC equipment, chillers, performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
• Experience with calculating nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements, along with reading and knowing schematics.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to move or lift objects, typically less than 75 lbs.

Other essential job requirements:

• Availability to work the assigned schedule, travel to work locations (if needed) and be on standby for work outside of regularly scheduled shifts.
• Must be able to stand, walk and sit for prolonged periods of time; and be able to walk over uneven terrain with functional balance that does not require any special assistive devices.
• Must be able to move the extremities and spine through a functional range of motion that will permit work to be safely performed from ground / floor level to full overhead level.
• Must have good finger dexterity to manipulate small items, functional hand-eye coordination, and functionally grip with adequate strength to safely hold tools and stair railing or ladders.
• Must be able to safely meet the physical demands outlined in the Essential Physical Capacities Assessment and pass the post-offer physical abilities assessment, which includes being able to lift (60 lbs), push/pull (80 lbs), carry (60 lbs), climb stairs and ladder.
