Job summary

Aggreko in Smyrna, Tennessee is seeking a Shop Technician 2 - Power to support maintenance and repair of power systems at our Smyrna service center.

The role requires 3+ years' experience with diesel generators or HVAC equipment, strong troubleshooting, and the ability to read schematics; you must have a valid driver’s license and be able to lift up to 75 lbs. Overtime and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience working on diesel power/natural gas generators and/or commercial HVAC equipment, chillers.
• Ability to calculate nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements, and read schematics.
• Requires valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 60–75 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Based out of Smyrna, TN service center; perform PM and repairs on generators, engines, electrical distribution, chillers, HVAC, and oil-free air compressors.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures at the shop and coordinate with maintenance teams.
• Work overtime and weekends as needed; ensure safety and quality standards.

What you’ll do:

• You’ll be based out of our Smyrna, TN. service center.
• You’ll have an opportunity to work overtime and weekends.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of power generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, Chillers, HVAC equipment and/or oil free air compressors
• Troubleshoot equipment failures at the shop.

You are:

• High School diploma/GED
• 3+ years of experience working on diesel power/natural gas generators and/or commercial HVAC equipment, chillers, performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs
• Experience with calculating nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements, along with reading and knowing schematics
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to move or lift objects, typically less than 75 lbs.

Other essential job requirements

• Availability to work the assigned schedule, travel to work locations (if needed) and be on standby for work outside of regularly scheduled shifts
• Must be able to stand, walk and sit for prolonged periods of time; and be able to walk over uneven terrain with functional balance that does not require any special assistive devices
• Must be able to move the extremities and spine through a functional range of motion that will permit work to be safely performed from ground / floor level to full overhead level
• Must have good finger dexterity to manipulate small items, functional hand-eye coordination, and functionally grip with adequate strength to safely hold tools and stair railing or ladders
• Must be able to safely meet the physical demands outlined in the Essential Physical Capacities Assessment and pass the post-offer physical abilities assessment, which includes being able to lift (60 lbs), push/pull (80 lbs), carry (60 lbs), climb stairs and ladder
