Job summary

Jobtailor in Rawlins, Wyoming, seeks a skilled Shop Technician IV to perform mechanical repairs, preventive maintenance, and roadside service calls. You’ll diagnose systems using J-Pro, FleetCross, and OE software, document labor and parts, and provide friendly, professional customer service.

Core duties include DOT inspections, air brake and HVAC work, on-call shifts, and safety compliance. You’ll mentor teammates as needed and stay current with OSHA requirements.

Qualifications

• Air Brake Certification required.
• DOT Medical Card required.
• ASE certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical repairs in a timely and professional manner.
• Perform preventive maintenance services, tire services, and emergency roadside service calls.
• Conduct DOT inspections and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Perform service calls, including night and on-call assignments.
• Use J-Pro, FleetCross, and OE software to diagnose and repair vehicle systems.
• Complete work orders accurately, documenting labor, parts, and warranty information.
• Perform intermediate to advanced engine, emissions, drivetrain, wheel-end, air system, air brake, steering, suspension, electrical, and HVAC diagnostics and repairs.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop, tools, and equipment.
• Ensure tools, jacks, and service vehicles are maintained in safe working condition.
• Stay current with LMS training requirements and complete OSHA Skills Demonstrations.
• Provide friendly, professional, and competent customer service.
• Adhere to company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.
• Assist with other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Shop Technician IV must obtain or maintain T2: Diesel Engines, T4: Brakes, T5: Suspension & Steering, T6: Electrical/Electronic Systems, and T7: Heating, Ventilation & A/C (or equivalent) within one year of promotion


• Section 609 HVAC certification required for HVAC service


• Valid driver's license and insurable driving record


• Ability to attend and successfully complete HVAC, Electrical, and DOT training


• Ability to obtain required ASE, DOT, and other certifications


• Ability to work weekends, holidays, nights, and on-call schedules as needed


• Reliable transportation and phone


• Ability to communicate effectively in English (as applicable)


• Ability to work cooperatively with team members and deliver excellent customer service


• Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds


• Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday


• Ability to work in shop and roadside environments under varying conditions


• Physical attendance at the primary work location is required
