- Perform mechanical repairs in a timely and professional manner
- Perform preventive maintenance services, tire services, and emergency roadside service calls
- Conduct DOT inspections and ensure regulatory compliance
- Perform service calls, including night and on-call assignments
- Use J-Pro, FleetCross, and OE software to diagnose and repair vehicle systems
- Complete work orders with labor, parts, and warranty documentation
- Perform intermediate to advanced engine, emissions, drivetrain, wheel-end, air system, air brake, steering, suspension, electrical, and HVAC diagnostics and repairs
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop, tools, and equipment
- Ensure tools, jacks, and service vehicles remain safe and operational
- Complete LMS training requirements and OSHA Skills Demonstrations
- Provide friendly, professional, and competent customer service
- Follow company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements
- Assist with other assigned duties
- Advanced-level technicians may mentor shop personnel and serve as technical subject matter experts
Requirements
- Air Brake Certification required
- DOT Medical Card required
- ASE certifications preferred
- Shop Technician IV must obtain or maintain T2: Diesel Engines, T4: Brakes, T5: Suspension & Steering, T6: Electrical/Electronic Systems, and T7: Heating, Ventilation & A/C (or equivalent) within one year of promotion
- Section 609 HVAC certification required for HVAC service
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
- Ability to attend and successfully complete HVAC, Electrical, and DOT training
- Ability to obtain required ASE, DOT, and other certifications
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, nights, and on-call schedules as needed
- Reliable transportation and phone
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (as applicable)
- Ability to work cooperatively with team members and deliver excellent customer service
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday
- Ability to work in shop and roadside environments under varying conditions
- Physical attendance at the primary work location is required
