Job summary

A leading company in the trailer repair industry is seeking a full-time Service Operations Manager to oversee shop operations. Qualifications

Position Summary

Oversee and manage service operations at a specified shop location, ensuring efficient and effective operation of the service centers. Responsibilities include leadership, operational management, and customer service duties, as outlined below.

Areas of Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Leadership and Management
  • Provide direction and leadership to shop operations
  • Supervise and support mechanics
  • Monitor and assess shop performance
  • Operational Oversight
    • Collaborate with Service Managers to establish and monitor KPIs related to service quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction
    • Oversee daily shop operations, ensuring smooth workflow and timely repairs
    • Implement standardized processes, procedures, and safety protocols
  • Customer Relationship Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers to understand their needs and ensure satisfaction
    • Work with Service Managers to address inquiries and concerns professionally
  • Employee Management and Development
    • Supervise all shop employees
    • Enforce policies, including discipline and termination procedures
    • Approve and process employee time records and PTO requests
    • Conduct performance evaluations and coordinate training initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, innovation, and automation to enhance operations and service quality
  • Compliance and Safety
    • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and industry standards
    • Address safety and compliance issues promptly
    • Maintain a safe, organized, and tidy work environment
  • Reporting and Communication
    • Prepare and audit reports on KPIs as required
    • Promote clear communication across service centers

    Crisis Management

    • Respond swiftly to emergencies, managing crises effectively
    • Inspect and monitor equipment, tooling, and facilities
    • Communicate maintenance needs and keep the shop organized

    Skills and Requirements:

    • Proficiency in reading and writing in English for documentation
    • Ability to analyze and diagnose mechanical issues in trucks and trailers
    • Deep knowledge of trailer and truck mechanical systems and repair experience
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • ASE certifications are highly desirable
    • Class A Mechanic: 5+ years of experience
    • Class B Mechanic: 3-5 years of experience
    • Class C Mechanic: 1-3 years of experience
    • Ability to pass pre-employment tests and background checks
    • Attention to detail, efficiency, mechanical acuity, and basic math skills

    Tool Requirements (if hired as Working Supervisor):

    • Toolbox: 3 Drawer or larger top chest with bottom box
    • Tools: Pliers, screwdrivers, hammers, punches, flashlight
    • Pneumatic tools: Drill, air hammer, air riveter 1/4"

    Physical Requirements:

    • Pass drug and medical physical tests
    • Work in uncomfortable conditions and physically demanding positions
    • Stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 50 pounds
    • Access trailer roofs or interiors using ladders

    • Exceptional leadership and organizational skills
    • Drive operational excellence and foster a customer-centric culture
    • Promote continuous improvement and possess extensive knowledge of semi-trailer repair and job costing
