Chief Engineer - Capitol Complex Trade Shop Supervisor

  • Work Shift: Day Shift 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday
  • Salary Range: $34.86 - $50.52 hourly; $72,787 - $105,485 annually
Position Overview

This role supervises operations and maintenance for 20 facilities within the State Capitol Complex, managing unionized engineers and coordinating maintenance, repairs, and construction activities. The supervisor collaborates with Building Managers and other supervisors to ensure efficient facility operations, demonstrates strong supervisory skills, and fosters teamwork.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Minnesota Chief Engineer Class B or higher license
  • Valid MN Driver’s License with acceptable record
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • At least 2 years supervisory experience in skilled trades
  • Knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, fire sprinkler codes, and maintenance practices
  • Strong communication and human relation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to obtain procurement certification within 9 months
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master or Journey-worker licenses in plumbing, pipefitting, or electrical trades
  • Refrigerant handling certification, NFPA Sprinkler certification, experience with Archibus, HVAC system design, asbestos regulations, and supervisory experience in union environments
Physical and Additional Requirements

Must be able to work at heights, lift heavy loads, and work in confined spaces and various weather conditions. Successful applicants must pass background checks.
