Job summary

Alta Equipment Group is seeking a full-time Shop Supervisor for our Wallingford, CT location. The role focuses on supervising shop operations, coordinating work for internal and external customers, and driving safety and process improvements.

The ideal candidate will have 4–6 years of supervisory experience, knowledge of forklift units (electric and propane), and strong communication and leadership skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and shop management tools is expected.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years of supervisory experience preferred.
• General knowledge of electric and liquid propane forklift units.
• Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer relations and people skills.
• Ability to manage others effectively.
• Proficiency with Hyster/Yale CM, Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and maintenance instructions.
• Reasoning and mathematical skills to handle practical problems.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the operation of the shop.
• Foster a positive customer and employee relations atmosphere.
• Coordinate work for internal and external customers.
• Review and analyze department data to meet goals.
• Monitor work in progress and hours billed on jobs.
• Monitor employee training progress.
• Responsible for facility condition and safety standards.
