Job summary

Qualified Professional and Technical is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Equipment Improvement Engineer in Macon, GA. This direct-hire role focuses on real-floor problem solving, equipment reliability and process improvements to drive uptime and productivity.

You will work with maintenance, operators, and engineering teams to identify issues, perform root-cause analyses, and implement practical improvements that reduce downtime and waste while boosting quality and throughput.

Qualifications

• Hands on experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with equipment troubleshooting.
• Experience improving equipment performance, reliability, uptime, or processes.
• Experience performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Understanding of preventive maintenance and equipment reliability.
• Experience reducing downtime, scrap, waste, or bottlenecks.
• Experience with Lean, Kaizen, 5S, OEE, standard work or similar CI methods preferred.
• Equipment installation, modifications, or production trials a plus.
• Ability to work with maintenance, operators, production teams and engineers.
• Engineering or technical education preferred; hands-on manufacturing experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Work on the manufacturing floor to identify equipment and process issues.
• Troubleshoot production equipment, downtime, process failures, and inefficiencies.
• Perform root cause analysis and develop corrective actions.
• Improve equipment reliability, uptime, productivity, throughput, quality, and process capability.
• Reduce downtime, scrap, waste, delays and other losses.
• Collaborate with maintenance technicians, operators, supervisors, engineering and quality teams.
• Recommend and implement improvements to equipment, tooling, processes, workflow and methods.
• Support equipment installations, modifications, upgrades, commissioning and trials.
• Utilize Lean, Kaizen, 5S, OEE, standard work and problem-solving tools.
• Monitor performance to identify trends and opportunities.
• Develop and improve SOPs, work instructions and maintenance practices.
• Promote reliability, safety, quality, productivity and CI.
