Job summary

Job Type: Full-time

Chesapeake Automotive Equipment is hiring a field-based technician to support customers with the setup and servicing of essential shop equipment. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys solving mechanical problems, working with their hands, and managing their own daily workload.

You will travel to customer locations such as repair shops and dealerships to ensure equipment is installed correctly and operating safely.

Position Overview

This role combines installation work, preventative maintenance, and repair services. You will be responsible for diagnosing issues, completing repairs, and ensuring equipment is functioning properly before leaving each job site.

Day-to-Day Work
  • Install and configure shop equipment including lifts, compressors, and related systems
  • Perform routine service and inspections to maintain safe operation
  • Identify mechanical and electrical faults and complete repairs
  • Evaluate customer sites and determine service or installation needs
  • Handle service calls independently while maintaining a professional customer experience
  • Document completed work, parts usage, and future service recommendations
  • Follow established safety practices and company procedures
  • Maintain organization of tools, parts, and service vehicle
Skills and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Background working with mechanical systems in automotive or similar environments
  • Ability to diagnose and repair both electrical and mechanical issues
  • Comfortable working independently in a field service role
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills for customer interaction
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift heavy equipment
