Shop Equipment Mechanic

Chesapeake Automotive Equipment is seeking a hands‑on technician to support customers with installation and repair of shop systems used in automotive and heavy‑duty service environments. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, traveling to different job sites, and solving technical issues in the field.

Our team works with repair facilities, dealerships, and service centers to keep their equipment operating safely and efficiently.

Role Summary

You will handle a mix of installations, service calls, and preventative maintenance. This includes working directly at customer locations, identifying issues, and ensuring equipment is fully operational before leaving the site.

Core Responsibilities

  • Set up and install shop systems such as vehicle lifts, compressed air systems, and related equipment
  • Perform inspections and routine servicing to prevent breakdowns
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical problems on‑site
  • Evaluate customer needs and recommend appropriate service solutions
  • Complete service work independently while maintaining a professional presence
  • Track labor, materials, and service details for each job
  • Follow all workplace safety practices and operational procedures
  • Maintain readiness of tools, parts, and service vehicle

Required Background

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with mechanical systems in automotive, industrial, or similar environments
  • Strong diagnostic ability across both electrical and mechanical components
  • Comfortable working independently in a field‑based role
  • Solid communication skills for customer interaction
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record
  • Ability to handle physically demanding work and lift heavy equipment
