Job summary

LILT is seeking native Shona linguists to localize UX, marketing content, and e-commerce copy for global clients. You will ensure accuracy, consistency, and cultural relevance across product surfaces and support materials.

As an independent contractor, you set your schedule and rates, work remotely, and collaborate with production and QA teams to meet client specs. Prior experience in app localization and brand storytelling is preferred.

Qualifications

• Native-level proficiency in Shona.
• Graduate qualification in translation, linguistics, or language studies, OR a graduate qualification in another field plus 2 years of full-time professional translation experience, OR 5 years of full-time professional translation experience.
• Ability to follow terminology and reference materials precisely.
• Proven professional experience in translation and localization within marketing, UI/software, or e-commerce content.
• Experience with app or platform localization (mobile UI, social media, or web content) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Precision in UX and Technical Content. Adapt complex software interfaces and support documentation with total accuracy.
• Impactful Marketing Localization. Transform global campaigns and brand voices to hit home in the Shona-speaking market.
• Polished Product and E-commerce Copy. Localize product and UI listings applying regional naming logic and formatting standards.
• Brand Integrity and Quality Assurance. Uphold elite quality benchmarks to provide engaging, audience-centric content aligned with brand identity.
• Agile Team Collaboration. Coordinate with our production and quality leads to execute high-stakes projects on schedule and within client specifications.
