Job summary

Caleres is seeking an Assistant Store Manager who leads by example, develops a high‑performing team, and delivers a premier shoe‑store experience. You will drive customer connection, coach associates, and ensure flawless store operations to meet sales targets and growth goals.

You will partner with the Store Manager to hire, train, and retain top talent while maintaining an inclusive, energetic store culture. Strong leadership and a passion for footwear are essential.

Qualifications

• Has a High School Diploma/GED.
• Has at least 1 year of sales experience (retail sales preferred).
• Demonstrates experience in interviewing, hiring, and training people.
• Exhibits ability to lead, manage, motivate, and communicate positively with store Associates at all levels.
• Displays ability to train, coach and develop Associates to provide an engaging customer experience and execute operational tasks.
• Exercises independent judgment and discretion partnering with Store Sales Manager, as needed.
• Demonstrates strong cognitive skills, including problem solving, decision making, and financial and quantitative analysis.
• Has advanced working knowledge of general retail practices and procedures.
• Can work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including holidays, nights, weekends, and extended hours.
• Has basic computer skills.

• Inspire the Customer Connection and coaching moments for selling behaviors.
• Champion Talent Discovery by recruiting exceptional external talent with Store Manager collaboration.
• Ace Retail Operations, oversee pricing, shipping, inventory, and store standards.
• Leverage Insights to deliver results and drive sales in partnership with the Store Manager.
• Be a Culture Builder, promote diversity and inclusivity and boost retention.
• Be the Store Manager’s Right Hand, step in during absence and develop internal talent.
