Job summary

Caleres is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to lead the store in the Store Manager’s absence, focusing on the customer experience and sales growth.

You will inspire a team, train and develop associates, and ensure operational excellence across pricing, inventory and daily tasks. The role emphasizes coaching for exceptional customer service and building a positive, inclusive store culture.

Qualifications

• Has at least 1 year of sales experience (retail sales preferred).
• Demonstrates experience in interviewing, hiring, and training people.
• Exhibits an ability to lead, manage, motivate, and communicate positively with store Associates at all levels.
• Displays ability to train, coach and develop Associates to provide an engaging customer experience and execute operational tasks.

Responsibilities

• Inspire associates with integrity and drive, focusing on customer relationships and operational excellence.
• Seek out and interview exceptional external talent to elevate sales growth.
• Oversee store operations including pricing, shipping processing, and inventory; support staffing levels.
• Drive sales with purpose and apply insights to improve results.
• Build a positive culture, promote inclusivity, and lead by example when Store Manager is away.
• Assess team strengths and develop internal talent in partnership with the Store Manager.
